The Implementation of the AUSWAVE wave model at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology

ثبت نشده
چکیده

AUSWAM, a version of the third-generation WAM wave model (WAMDI Group 1988), has been the operational sea-state model run by the National Meteorological and Oceanographic Centre (NMOC) since June 1994. Forecasts of sea-state from AUSWAM are used as numerical forecast guidance for the Bureau’s marine services. On Thursday 19 August 2010 AUSWAM was replaced by AUSWAVE, based on the WAVEWATCH III® (WW3) model.

Parallel implementation of underwater acoustic wave propagation using beamtracing method on graphical processing unit

The mathematical modeling of the acoustic wave propagation in seawater is the basis for realizing goals such as, underwater communication, seabed mapping, advanced fishing, oil and gas exploration, marine meteorology, positioning and explore the unknown targets within the water. However, due to the existence of various physical phenomena in the water environment and the various conditions gover...

Spatial evaluations of ACCESS marine surface winds using scatterometer data

Marine wind estimates from numerical weather prediction (NWP) systems are an important input to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (Bureau) forecast and warning services. They are also used as the forcing for downstream systems such as ocean and wave models. As such, it is important to maintain a knowledge of the expected accuracy of these products, as well as any systematic biases that may b...

Testing the VB95 Land Surface Model Against Catchment Runoff

The land surface model developed by Viterbo and Beljaars (VB95) is used in the numerical weather prediction and climate models of the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. At present the operational weather forecasting system routinely simulates runoff for each grid cell. While these simulations potentially have value for various applications, the ability of the land surface model and forecast syst...
